earth-chart-logoThe beginning of year 2011 could be a good time to reflect a little on the last twelve months. What a year it was, with the powerful build up of energies released through the combination of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in friction aspect. It must be obvious to most of us now that we are indeed in the middle of major changes in how we experience life on this beautiful entity called planet Earth. Seas ran with ‘blood’ (reminiscent of ancient prophecy) when the oil rig Deepwater Horizon exploded in May 2010. Major earthquakes shook Haiti and many other places around the globe. The term tsunami is now common language. Social unrest is becoming more universal as governments are forced to introduce draconic restrictions to cope with the economic meltdown—or foolishly try to patch up a failing capitalistic system in the hope that the problems will simply disappear. In November WikiLeaks began exposing the arrogance and stupidity of world enforcers; perhaps Julian Assange does deserve a Nobel Peace Prize!

Fires, floods and droughts are more prevalent and catastrophic as climate change deepens its hold, and this is particularly relevant to our own experience here in Australia as Pluto moves to conjunct Saturn in the federation horoscope; the peak of this aspect being in March/April. So yes there is more first hand, raw survival experience in store for us

Awareness of the suffering of the underprivileged has only really just begun as Neptune moves into Pisces in April this year, giving the human psyche an opportunity to evolve into a more compassionate state. This new transit completes a full cycle from the original ‘discovery’ of Neptune, and although subtle it will bring a great need for spiritual content in our lives—privacy and seclusion is already a need felt by many and withdrawal from the hype of mainstream media, in particular the internet, will become noticeable. Face Book and Twitter although now seemingly entrenched will lose appeal as individuals stop living from mind and ego and live more from the heart.

Astrology is a map that shows us that the biggest wound on earth at this time is that we do not love ourselves. We have been tricked through the illusion of desire, to want something outside of ourselves. This has made need and greed paramount. The nature of projection has left too many hearts empty.

2011 is all about finding that heart again and whatever takes place on this planet is necessary for us to find and nurture our love. As I write this article the floods in Queensland and Victoria are receding and we all feel tremendous compassion for those who have suffered. This compassion is drawing closer and closer to home. Ultimately it must reside in our self, not always for those we see as less fortunate, although that can be as profound as love for our own being. Once we connect with self love we can really heal this planet… because what is she but an extension of our self.
